Green With Envy

In honor of St. Patricks Day, I'd like to dedicate this post to going green. Or, more to the point, "Green with Envy". I'd like to talk about all things green, such as plants, cocktails, and green living. All of which are VERY important in life - at least for me. "Green" just happens to bring a smile to my face!

My Rule of Green Thumb

Let's start with plants and My Rule of Green Thumb. Here is where I could go on and on about how amazing I am with plants. Fortunately, I'm here, to be honest with my readers. I DO NOT HAVE a green thumb! In fact, my kids tell me not to touch them because they fear I will kill them just by coming into contact with them! It's that bad! I'm not sure if I will ever get better at it. But luckily, my better half has a magical green thumb. He's absolutely amazing with plants, he has successfully cut off a piece of passion flower vine cloned it and planted it. To this day, it’s thriving and attracts butterflies each Spring. I could go on and on about his many successes with plants, but that would make this post super LONG, so I'll spare you the long post and just give you the design tip. Plants are one of the best things to bring into your home. Not only are they healthy for you, they create a warm and inviting environment. My Rule of Green Thumb for every room is to have at least 1-2 potted plants or tree.

Great Green cocktails

Next order of green on the list are great green cocktails. There are mint mojitos, and then there are MINT MOJITOS! Let's just say this refreshing cocktail was the gateway into cocktails for me. It’s an oldie but certainly a classic. The drink is fairly labor intensive but when done well, it's worth the time and effort. Not into rum? There's always Apple Martinis, Margaritas, and last but not least Green Beer (not a cocktail but I felt that I needed to put out some beer for the beer lovers out there. I could get into all the latest IPA's but I'm not the beer drinker in this household. So I'll just stick with the cocktails. Let me know some of your favorite cocktails - if they happen to be green, order 2 for the month of March!

Living green

Now the serious side of green - Living Green. When I say living green, I'm talking about the environment and the health of our bodies. We are exposed to many chemicals on a daily basis from the products we use on our bodies to the chemicals used in our foods. As consumers, we have the ability to pick what we purchase. There are many manufacturers and retailers that have taken healthful ideas into consideration and have chosen to be responsible for how they source and what materials to use when manufacturing their products. This not only helps with the health of mother nature but it reduces the off-gassing that some harmful materials used. Have you ever noticed when you purchase something new it has a weird smell? Well, that is off-gassing and it's not something you want to breathe in. A great way to avoid these types of products is to purchase vintage or purchase from a responsible retailer that carries products with the SFC stamp of approval.Let's spread the word and go green for the month of March. Green the color, green in the way we live, and the best kind of Green - Mint Mojitos! If you're feeling a little blue about your space and want to create a space that has your friends green with envy, contact me hereand let's talk about how I can help you achieve it.
