Las Vegas Market Interior Furnishings and Decor Finds
Las Vegas Market - Winter Market
As a designer and interior stylist, I travel to a select handful of trade shows every year. One of the best shows is the Las Vegas Market -Winter Market. I was lucky to be a part of the Soft Design Lab. This Las Vegas Red Carpet tour is lead by Jackie Von Tobel and her daughter Angelica and 25 interior designers were selected to be a part of the tour. We received A-list treatment when visiting various showrooms - some of which are my all time favorites! We visited Jaipur, Palaceck, Arteriors and more. We received insider information regarding their design processes and met some amazing talents such as Nikki Chu, Christopher Kennedy, and Kirk Nix. Here are my Las Vegas Market Interior Furnishings and Decor Finds!
Design Drivers
When you think of a show dedicated to furniture and décor, you probably automatically think of finding the latest and greatest TRENDS, right? If you know me at all, my designs are not dictated by trends but what I call Design. Instead, I operate on feeling. It's about what I gravitate towards. Of course there are some common threads from one line to another that I'm attracted too - call them macro trends. Then there are common threads from the sometimes smaller and up and coming lines - the lines that have their finger on the pulse, the next BIG thing. That is what I look for! When I'm out and about, I'm searching for something different, something a little skewed to the left. Not to say I don't love all the other trends, but man, this time at market my hippie side really came to light. Of course, my not so hippie side, Yuppie came out too. It's like the yin and the yang instilled in me. Let's call it “Yippie” not to be confused with the definition from the Urban Dictionary. Balancing the two acts can be very interesting at times. You will see in some of the images below having a play of opposites is the common thread that I was attracted too.
Show (Not Tell!)
Now for the fun stuff! Show (Not tell!) images of each showroom I visited - because it's so much more fun to see for yourself. Let me know what your take is on each trend.
COLOR! COLOR! And More COLOR!
Blush pink and gray combos, dusty blue with neutrals, then there was the Color Explosion! My personal fave is the color explosion. Aren't you tired of the non-colors and the "I'm-on-the-fence colors"? I'm looking forward to fun colors used in a playful way. Life is serious enough, let's party with color.
Ovals, Circles, Skewed Rectangles
Shapes are everywhere and the list of shapes go on and on... Ovals, Circles, Skewed Rectangles! Seeing how each designer played with shapes and scale was very interesting to me. The more fluid the shape, the more exciting it was for me.
Texture Is A New Color
Texture is a new color - the more the better! Texture was applied toward lighting, art, and everything in between. The frame around the mirror below is made of coconut shells. Love seeing natural materials brought into design elements.
Mix Of Design Materials
Mixing it up! The mix of design materials and the application was a show stopper.Worldly and everything ethnic, Tribal is piquing my interest lately. Coming from an Asian culture and traveling to the Far East as a young girl has influenced my core. Throughout my life, I've been fortunate enough to have traveled to many places in Asia and Europe. My layered style comes from my travels and learning about the stories fills me to the core.Want to see more of my special brand of design inspiration? Follow me HERE.
