A family of 3 living in Costa Mesa, California, Lana is a VP of sales and marketing at one of the largest gaming firms in the country. Her job requires her to travel every week to and from San Francisco. Richard owns and operates property in and outside of Southern California. Their son Stone is a student attending elementary school who loves to surf and skate. Each member of the family maintains a busy schedule.

During our initial design work session, I quickly realized it was a He vs. She vibe. They both knew what types of style they liked and expressed how they wanted to feel in their space. They wanted the room to exude character, color, and richness. But most importantly, casual and lived-in. This wonderful couple had a passion for music. He loved the Grateful Dead, and she loved rock and roll. She loved high fashion, and he loves traditional. It was a ying-yang style match made in heaven.

Going into this project, I need to stay authentic to each of their styles. I used the art of mixing and balance to get it right. Some pieces spoke to each of them individually, and other items resonated with both of them. When it was all pulled together, the living room conveyed each of their stories.
