STOP! Letting Big box retailers dictate your style.

Abandon those rules of matchy-matchy and that everything has a place. There is absolutely NO need to have all of your furniture be the same brown or reddish brown color. I have a strong feeling those manufacturers went big and bought a ton of that espresso colored stain and now they are stuck with it. Don’t be stuck with their bad decisions. There is a time and a place for espresso just not every piece.  Don't be afraid to mix it up.Have you thought about what type of spaces make you feel alive? Do you know what style or styles make you tick? Do you have an idea of what color give you a sense of calm or joy? How about the feeling of clarity when you walk into a room.  Wouldn’t that be worth investigating?

What’s your TRUE STYLE?

Well let me tell you, STOP browsing through all of those catalogs and obsessing over HGTV. That my friend is mainstream and is not at all, YOU!  Now take the time to work out what types of styles, colors and textures you truly LOVE.

Break it down step by step. Do you have memories when you where a kid of that one piece you absolutely loved in your parents home or friends home? For me it was our wallpaper in the entrance of the house I grew up in. It was the 70’s and it was an ornate pattern that was flocked. Flocked is the fuzzy fibers that have been glued to paper. It’s like velvet texture.  Yes very 70’s but whenever I think back about that wallpaper it brings me back to the times I enjoyed as a little girl. The carefree moments I had, the joy of being 7.  I'm not saying my style is 70's but it's something that evokes a feeling.Colors stir up emotion and has the ability to trigger some amazing feelings  . Why not create a space that drives you to feel happiness, or calmness. This is done through colors and finding your colors is key to your space. My personal source of color is Mother Nature. She has a knack for creating the most amazing palettes. Living by the beach I naturally gravitate towards warm tones of sand and cool tones of water.   To round out my palette, I look at shades of green and pops of colors that are provided by the surrounding trees, and flowers. So take a field trip and go out and discover what gives you a sense of calm or joy.  Document them and you will soon see a pattern.Textures, are one of the most important parts of your room. It’s a must have in all of your spaces.   This helps give your space depth and personality. I know you have lots of personality and it should show in your entrance, living room or dining room.  These are the spaces that your guest will see and showcasing a place that represents you. Texture comes in a variety of forms ranging from prints, fabric, and décor.   Discovering your sense of textures can be found in your every day routine.  It could be the pattern you see on someone’s shirt or the feel of a fabric from a pillow. Now go ahead and be YOU!  Discover what color gives you a sense of delight.  Some texture that represents your personality.  Put it all together and create that amazing place you call home.If your ready to discover your "True Style" and need some assistance to get there.  I've got the perfect package to assist you.   Click here to set up your Design Work Session
